It's hard to believe this 4th-down play was 50 years ago exactly from today. I saw a Terry Bradshaw interview this week where he stated that the only reason the "Immaculate Reception" was successful is because Franco Harris released downfield. Joe Paterno taught his players that "as soon as the football releases from the QB's hand, begin running towards the football, you never know what could happen". Of course Harris caught the deflection, scored and the Steelers won.
