In the 1984 Division 1AA football playoffs Tech hosted record setting Mississippi Valley (9-1 record) with All-American WR Jerry Rice and QB Willie Totten in The Joe. Valley was averaging 61 points per game coming into the contest. The two teams set/broke 20 NCAA records in the game. Below is some video of Tech's 66-19 win. Valley's only regular season loss was to #1 ranked and undefeated Alcorn State, who Tech played the following weekend in Jackson, MS. Tech won that game 44-21 and went on to lose the 1AA National Championship game vs Montana St. Enjoy the video (pre-internet VHS reproduced tape)!
