Tech finished their 2019-2020 season at 22-8 overall and 13-5 in Conference USA. The 13-5 finish in the league was good for a tie for 2nd place.
DaQuan Bracey finished as a first team all-conference selection. Derric Jean was selected to the all-defensive team. Both players were seniors. Mo Muhammed and Oliver Powell were the two other seniors on the roster.
Eric Konkol is 105-57 in 5 seasons as the HC at Louisiana Tech. He’s 55-35 in Conference USA play.
Good Wins in 2019-2020: @ Mississippi State, Charlotte (X2), FIU (X2), @ North Texas
Bas Losses: @ UTSA, @ Marshall (OT)

Who might transfer?
- First off, I have no inside info on this at all. Secondly, I think Armstead is the most likely candidate when looking at all of the returners. You could make a case for a few others, but I felt like this roster was really bought in to the program this past season.
Word on the New Signees
- Bass can absolutely fill it up. He missed time late in the year at his JC due to an ankle injury, but he was averaging 31 points per game on 48% shooting prior to the injury. He’s 6’2, might lead Tech in scoring next season.
- Lofton is a below the rim big man. 6’6 guy, not the type of ultra-athletic type of guy that we are used to seeing. He can really handle the ball, can shoot a little bit, almost a point forward type of player. Staff fell in love with him.
- Hunter is from Huntington HS in Shreveport. Nothing against Huntington, but Mack Jones doesn’t necessarily develop bigs all that well. So he’s going to be pretty raw coming in. The good thing is that Gordon and Thomas will really challenge him in practice early on in his career.
- Elder has been compared to Derric Jean. Needs to get stronger, decent shooter, but is tough as nails on the floor.
Questions Entering 2020-2021
- I think we saw late in the year that Cobe Williams is likely to be the PG next season. Tech was so good with him on the floor. Reminds me a lot of Speedy when you look at his intensity on defense.
- Archibald and Ledoux will be the two returners that will handle a lot of the scoring.
- Pemberton and Crawford have to get healthy in the offseason.
- Gordon needs to get in better shape, has to be able to give Tech 22-25 min next season, I think he can be a difference maker inside
- Big offseason for Christon. We obviously love the kid, but he has to get that confidence back to show that he’s worth a roster spot. He showed some aggressiveness at times, but it never came all the way back. I think we are all pulling for him to be successful.
Thoughts on the Program
- Did we take a step forward in 2019-2020 as a program? Are you excited/feeling positive about the program going forward? Interested to hear you guys thoughts.
