3 weeks in. 2 heartbreaking losses. One nail biter of a win. Where do we stand now versus preseason views? 1-2. About where a lot of us figured a month ago.

The difference is the Skip "what could've been" factor. We should've won those 2 games - which is ahead of where I figured preseason.

A lot of the mistakes that have cost us may be due to so many new faces playing significant roles.

We're better on Offense than I figured, especially this early in the season. The run game has struggled, but the passing game is much better than I anticipated. We can sling the rock against just about any team not named Alabama or Georgia. Kendal is Driskel 2.0. Talented, gritty, and a leader. Tre Harris and Means are two young DUDES who will only get better. Remember that those guys are young and still learning at a fast clip.

Defense has faced some high powered Offenses. They still haven't gelled as a unit. Our DBs have been a bit of a letdown. We don't seem to have put the right mix on the field and called the right scheme a lot of the time. There have been some good moments, but also a lot of frustrating moments.

We have only 1 game left where we will be a decided underdog. It's all how we move forward. Do we wallow in self pity, or do we continue to meld as a team and get better every week?

The talent is there to make a run at a Conference Championship. Outside of NC State, the schedule becomes much more favorable from here on out. Do we really think that we can't beat UAB and UTSA? I think our talent is at least equal or better than those guys. I'm not predicting a W in Raleigh in 2 weeks, but we've got better than a puncher's chance. This is easily the best 1-2 team in the G5.
