Press Release:
IRVING, Texas (June 15, 2015) – For the first time in school history Louisiana Tech will enter a football season with all of its games scheduled to be televised as Conference USA officials announced the broadcast selections by the American Sports Network (ASN) Monday afternoon.
The league office made the announcement in conjunction with ASN’s picks through the C-USA television contract with ASN selecting four Louisiana Tech games to be televised this fall.
“American Sports Network has become an outstanding partner of ours and we are pleased that this package of games will showcase our teams to C-USA fans throughout the country,” said Conference USA Commissioner Britton Banowsky. “This will be an exciting season of C-USA Football and it’s great that ASN will provide plenty of coverage each week this fall.”
Monday’s announcement ensures all 12 Louisiana Tech games this fall will be televised with none reserved for an internet-only broadcast. The only official announcement not made yet is LA Tech’s Oct. 17 game at Mississippi State but the SEC television contract ensures that game will be televised with time and network likely to be announced 12 days prior to the game.
ASN chose four Louisiana Tech games to air in the selection process leading off with the Bulldogs’ season opener in the newly expanded Joe Aillet Stadium against Southern with a 6 p.m. CT kickoff set for Sept. 5. That broadcast will highlight the first time the two teams will meet each other on the gridiron and Southern’s first visit to Lincoln Parish in decades.
The American Sports Network, which includes a collection stations across the country, will return to Joe Aillet Stadium on Oct. 3 to broadcast LA Tech’s game against Louisiana-Lafayette with a 6 p.m. CT kickoff time also slotted for that game. This marks the second consecutive year the two rivals will face each other after a decade’s hiatus in the series with the Bulldogs dominant in a 48-20 win over the Ragin’ Cajuns last fall in Lafayette.
The following week ASN will televise Louisiana Tech’s game at UTSA with a 6 p.m. kickoff. Last year Louisiana Tech edged UTSA in a close game at Joe Aillet Stadium, 27-20, as the Bulldogs took a 2-1 lead in the all-time series against the Roadrunners. LA Tech will look to upend the home field advantage in San Antonio this fall as the home team has won every meeting in the series.
ASN will also broadcast Louisiana Tech’s Oct. 24 game against Middle Tennessee with a 2:30 p.m. CT kickoff set for the contest at Joe Aillet Stadium.
In the most recent television selections for Conference USA, Fox Sports announced it had picked up six Louisiana Tech games as well as the Bulldogs’ Sept. 19 game at Kansas State as part of the Big 12 Conference television contract.
Season tickets for the 2015 season are currently on sale with great new seats opening up as Monday was also the renewal deadline for season ticket holders. All non-renewed tickets were opened back up to the public beginning Monday.
After the win over Illinois in a Zaxby's Heart of Dallas Bowl that was watched by over 2.3 million people on ESPN with a 1.5 viewership rating and a nine-win season, excitement continues to grow in Bulldog Country for Louisiana Tech Football. That includes the expansion of Joe Aillet Stadium with the opening of the new south end zone featuring over 300 premium seats in a club level overlooking the field, a section that sold out over six weeks ago.
More than 240 of the seats were sold prior to the Dec. 31 priority date while the remaining seats were sold since the start of the new year. All seat holders participated in the new building campaign. A waiting list has been started and anyone interested can call Nate Warren at 318-255-7950.
The 2015 football season marks the fifth year of a multi-platform media rights agreement between Conference USA and FOX Sports to broadcast a minimum of 30 games. Games appear on FOX Sports 1, as well as FOX Sports Networks owned and affiliated regional networks, which reach more than 85 million homes, and FOX College Sports.
The 2015 C-USA Championship game on Saturday, Dec. 5 is scheduled to air on either ESPN or ESPN 2. It marks the 11th straight year that the C-USA Championship will air on the ESPN Family of Networks.
This fall marks Conference USA’s 20th annual football season.
The announcement of the schedule of games on ASN, along with previously confirmed games involving Conference USA schools bring the total number of C-USA football games that are scheduled to be televised during the entire season to more than 100. Additional games and networks, most in which C-USA schools will be the visiting team, will be announced during the season.
