These aren’t his DIRECT quotes, but are pretty much direct if you get what I am saying, I had a little trouble hearing him at times is why they are not direct quotes. He is a well spoken kid, who I believe would be a great asset to Tech.

On the whole recruiting process: He really enjoyed the early phase of the process, he has been blessed to be able to go through this whole process, and never imagined being in this position but he did it through hard work. He’s been blessed with all of his offers, but it has been hectic here towards the end and he just wants to pray on it & make the best decision.

On how important it is to play as a TR FR: He just wants to trust in God and trust in the process, he understands that sometimes you have to redshirt and sit out a year, but he would definitely love to play as a true freshmen.

On what has kept Tech in the race for his services with all the bigger schools coming in late: The four schools that he mentioned to me in the interview that are in his final 4 are Tech, LSU, Texas, and K-State. He went on to rave about the relationships he has built with the whole staff at Tech, not just 1 or 2 coaches, and he loves the plan that Tech has laid out for him.

On the importance to him of being the next Kenneth Dixon, Vernon Butler, etc: He said that it is important, but it’s not important at the same time. He is just looking to play football, get better and continue his dream of getting an education while reaching his ultimate dream of playing in the NFL. He said he is really just looking for that right fit.

On who he tries to model his game after: Trovon Reed from Thibodeaux, LA , who played at Auburn. Trovon was a hometown hero to him and he always tried to be as good as Trovon. Trovon played more offense than Amik, but he was always looking to be better than him. Tyrann Mathieu was another guy, just because of the lack of size, and they both have similar playmaking ability.

On looking to make big plays at CB: He said he is always looking to make the big play, but wants to make sure that his game is polished, and wants to do his job by locking down a WR on 1st, 2nd, & 3rd down so that he can drop back on 4th and field a punt and show his playmaking ability with the ball in his hands.

On the chip he plays with being a smaller guy: He definitely feels like his lack of size has played a factor in his recruitment, he believes if he was 6 foot that he would be a top 5-10 CB in the country, and he feeds off the bigger schools overlooking him some. He said that what he lacks in size, he makes up for with his athletic ability, ball skills, and eyes allow him to play much bigger and be an outstanding player.

On Tech putting so many players in NFL last few years playing a factor in his decision, where as he could get lost on a depth chart at bigger school: He said it definitely plays a factor, but he just wants to play football. Tech is going to give him an opportunity to show off his talents and that is why they are still the top school on his list, they are going to make sure is comfortable.

On when he will make his decision: He anticipates it coming down to signing day.
