RUSTON - Louisiana Tech head coach Derek Dooley announced Friday that Arkansas prep star Cruz Williams has signed a financial aid agreement and will enroll in school this fall.

Williams, who had originally signed a national letter of intent to play at Arkansas, was granted a release from his NLI by Razorbacks new head coach Bobby Petrino. Like all incoming freshmen, Cruz will be eligible to participate this season upon fulfillment of the NCAA minimum academic requirements.

“I feel like Louisiana Tech is home,” said Williams. “I have always known about Louisiana Tech and its football program, and I believe in Coach Dooley and what he is doing down there. I’m ready to get to campus and get to work.”

Williams is a 6-foot-4-inch wide receiver who starred at Pulaski Academy in Little Rock, Arkansas where he recorded 105 receptions for 1,306 yards and 18 touchdowns as a senior.

Williams was named to the Associate Press’ Super Team while also earning accolades from the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette as a member of the all-state team and as the Class 5A Southeast’s Outstanding Back. He was also an all-state selection.

As a junior, Williams recorded 57 catches for over 1,200 yards and 19 touchdowns, averaging 21.9 yards per reception.

Williams was ranked as the 59th best receiver in the country by Rivals.com and the sixth best overall prospect in the state of Arkansas. Scout.com ranked him as the 80th best wide receiver in the country and the fourth best overall prospect in the state.

The highly sought after playmaker was also recruited by Michigan, Georgia Tech and Oklahoma State.
