RUSTON, La. (Aug. 17, 2015) – Louisiana Tech had 13 former players see game action throughout the first week of National Football League preseason games with Houston Bates recording two sacks and both Justin Ellis and Jordan Mills starting for their respective teams.

Every former Bulldog currently in NFL camps saw game action during the first week of preseason games.

Former back-to-back Ray Guy Award winner Ryan Allen averaged 46.7 yards on his six punts in New England’s 27-11 loss to Green Bay, sending two punts inside the 20 with a long punt of 54 yards.

Opposite Allen, Myles White was targeted twice and had one catch for 10 yards for the Packers as he was on the field for 51 total plays.

Luke McCown saw back-up action as quarterback in New Orleans’ 30-27 loss to Baltimore, throwing for 75 yards and a touchdown in 20 plays. He had a long pass of 28 yards.

Houston Bates was impressive late in Washington’s 20-17 win over Cleveland as both of his tackles against the Browns were recorded on back-to-back sacks while also being credited for three quarterback hurries. He was on the field for 33 plays in the game.

Opposite Bates, Tramon Williams was on the field for 19 plays for the Browns as he recorded one solo tackle.

Tony Johnson tallied four total tackles for the New York Giants in a 23-10 loss to Cincinnati in 25 plays. He also registered one tackle for a loss.

In Oakland’s 18-3 win over St. Louis, Justin Ellis started at nose tackle and played 11 plays, recording two total tackles (one solo, on assisted). Also for the Raiders, Mitchell Bell saw time at guard in reserve, playing in 12 plays.

Josh Scobee converted a 36-yard field goal and was 2-for-2 on point after touchdown attempts in Jacksonville’s 23-21 win over Pittsburgh. He sent all four of his kickoffs into the end zone for a touchback to average 65.0 yards per kickoff.

In his first appearance for the Buffalo Bills, IK Enemkpali played in 28 plays and totaled three tackles in Buffalo’s 25-24 loss to Carolina. Enemkpali had two solo tackles and one assisted tackle with one of his solo tackles coming for a loss. He was also credited with one quarterback hurry.

D’Anthony Smith saw action in 24 total plays for Seattle in the Seahawks’ 22-20 loss to Denver. Smith was credited with one solo tackle and one quarterback hurry.

Jordan Mills started at right tackle for the Bears in Chicago’s 27-10 win over Miami, playing in 19 plays.

Quinton Patton was on the field for 22 plays in San Francisco’s 23-10 loss to Houston but did not record any stats.
