RUSTON – Casey Cathrall has been named the director of basketball strength and conditioning, announced by the Louisiana Tech Athletics Department today.

Cathrall will oversee all aspects of the Bulldog and Lady Techster basketball teams.

Most recently, he was the director of strength and conditioning at the University of Maryland, Baltimore County. In that role, he oversaw all of the strength and conditioning for 15 Division I varsity sports, including men’s and women’s basketball.

He served as the assistant strength and conditioning coach at FIU where he was responsible for men and women’s soccer and women’s swimming and diving. This position was following his stints as interim women’s basketball strength and conditioning coach and as a full time graduate assistant.

Cathrall had the opportunity to intern in the summer of 2013 for the National Strength and Conditioning Association at their headquarters in Colorado Springs, Colorado.

He was one of two graduate assistants at the University of Miami (Fla.) in 2013 for the men’s basketball team which won their first ever Atlantic Coast Conference regular season and tournament championship. He also assisted with the comprehensive strength and conditioning program for women’s basketball and women’s swimming.

Cathrall is a certified strength and conditioning specialist (C.S.C.S.), a USA weightlifting level I sports performance coach (USAW) and is CPR/AED certified by the American Red Cross.

He played basketball for Ithaca College in Ithaca, New York. While there, he received his bachelor’s degree in Clinical Health Studies/Physical Therapy in 2012. In 2014, he earned his master’s in exercise physiology from the University of Miami (Fla.).
