When Diaco was hired there was significant groaning that he was going to implement a "bend but not break" scheme and that we would lose the aggressiveness we had under Manny and Baker.
Spring and Fall Camps seemed to change a lot of peoples' minds (including mine). There was talk of enthusiasm and aggressiveness.
Saturday night we watched helplessly as Texas just went down the field 8 or 9 yards at a time. There was little of the aggressiveness that had been preached.
We all understand that college coaching is a funny business. Both Diaco and Manny have seen highs and lows. Sometimes a coach and scheme isn't a good fit, and sometimes it's the opposite.
We know that Texas had more talent, but the way they just went through us like a hot knife through butter is extremely concerning.
Was it the newness of the scheme, aka we are still learning and that was a bad draw to break in a new system? Is the system a bad fit for our personnel? Are we going to make some adjustments based on the Texas game (some of which has been discussed in other threads, such as "why are players like Baker and Taylor playing DB so much instead of attacking the Offense")?
How do y'all feel about the Diaco hire now? Is the sky falling, or will we improve and right the ship on Defense? Does Diaco have a history of adjusting, or does he rigidly cling to the scheme like some Holy mantra? How is our personnel's buy in and confidence post debacle?
