Tech will travel to El Paso for a pair of contests with UTEP this weekend.
Tipoff is set for 8 PM on ESPN+ tonight.
Jacolby Pemberton did make the trip to El Paso, so that's good news.
Souley Boum is UTEP's leading scorer, averaging 16.1 points per game. Boum is shooting 43% from 3-point range. He also shot 43% from 3 a season ago, so he can really shoot it.
Bryson Williams is averaging 14.8 points and 7.1 rebounds per game. Williams, a 1st team All-CUSA selection, is 6'8, 230 pounds, really difficult match-up. He can play inside or outside. If the Miners choose to use him at the 5 some, it will be interesting to see how Konkol counters it.
Jamal Bieniemy is an Oklahoma transfer that will run the point. If you remember, Tech was interested in Bieniemy when he announced his intentions to transfer. He's averaging 11.2 points, 4.8 assists per game.
Tydus Verhoeven (6'9) and Kristian Sjolund (6'8) are the other two bigs that see action. Sjolund can step out and shoot for 3 some, 39%.
Rodney Terry has built this roster with transfer from San Francisco, Duquesne, North Alabama, Xavier, Fresno State (2), Georgia Tech, and Oklahoma.
If Tech defends well, they should be fine. UTEP scored 33 points in a loss to North Texas last weekend. That said, it's not easy to win out in El Paso.
