First pitch is set for 6 PM at the Love Shack tonight.

Game will be on ESPN+.

Looks like a chance of rain around first pitch, but it'll miss us. 'Dogs got some business to handle!

Cade Gibson will likely get the start on the mound for Tech. Gibson struck out 7 in 4 innings of work against Wichita State on Friday night.

Kyle Crigger earned 1 win and 1 save over 2 appearances against Wichita State. The senior right-hander was named C-USA Pitcher of the Week for his efforts.

Taylor Young was 5/10 at the plate against the Shockers. He also drew 4 BB/HBP for a .643 OBP.

Matulia went 5/12 with 1 HR & 2 RBI.

McConnell only hit .222, but he drove in 6 runs over the 3-game set.

LSU will come to town Wednesday night after sweeping Maine over the weekend.

Jay Johnson is in his first season as the HC in Baton Rouge. Johnson was at Arizona, previously.

The Tigers were picked to finish 4th in the SEC West in the preseason by D1 Baseball.

Top Draft Prospects for 2022: OF Jacob Berry (Potential #1 overall pick), INF Cade Doughty, RHP Eric Reyzelman, OF/DH Brayden Jobert, RHP Paul Gervase, OF Gavin Dugas, RHP Devin Fontenot, RHP Ty Floyd

Top Draft Prospects for 2023: OF Dylan Crews (Potential #1 overall pick), 1B Tre Morgan, SS Jordan Thompson, RHP Blake Money, LHP Javen Coleman

Offensively, LSU is as good as any team in the country on paper.

Berry, Crews and Morgan are All-Americans. Doughty and Dugas combined for 32 HR a season ago.

Berry is a left-handed hitter, transfer from Arizona. Doesn’t really have a position. Can play corner OF, 1B, 3B, DH type guy. Pure hitter.

Crews can do it all. He’ll probably be in CF. Power to all fields.

Morgan is right there with Berry when it comes to being a pure hitter. Inside out type swing as a freshman, will probably tap into some more power as he gets older. As good of a defensive first baseman as you’ll find in America. Can really run when he gets on the bases.

Doughty and Dugas can get pull happy at times, but they’ll hit around .300. Dugas can K a bunch at times.

Brayden Jobert will likely be in the lineup after Cade Beloso was injured against Maine. Jobert had 2 HR and 9 RBI opening weekend. Started career at Nicholls, JC transfer.

Tyler McManus or Alex Milazzo will be behind the plate. McManus hit 11 HR at Samford last season. Milazzo can’t hit a lick, but he’s VERY GOOD defensively.

If LSU is going to struggle, it’ll likely be on the mound.

Money, Hilliard, and Floyd got the starts over the weekend.

Devin Fontenot has been in BR forever. He’ll come out of the bullpen at 91-94. Closer type.

Will Hellmers started against Tech a season ago. Lanky right-hander that has started to fill out some. 89-92, throws a bunch of strikes.

Javen Coleman is a left-hander that came out of the bullpen and shut Tech down last season. He’s not overpowering, but he’s got a really good curveball.

Riley Cooper is another transfer that came to LSU with Johnson from Arizona. Bad body lefty, but he can pitch.

Grant Taylor is a FR right-hander that was up to 96 in the fall.

Eric Reyzelman is a transfer from San Francisco that touched 100 on the radar gun against Maine. He’s a stuff guy, command can come and go at times. Had a big summer, sounds like he has a lot of confidence.

Bottom line, they have tons of arms on the staff that have “great stuff.” Very few of them are proven. Will be interesting to see if Tech can get on them early and force them to press some. LSU has not announced a starting pitcher yet.

Let's go!!
