So this won't work on mobile or Safari, AOL, Netscape Navigator or whatever Microsoft's browser is at the moment. But I was inspired by GTPDD's fun Chrome extension that changed UL to ULL everywhere.
This will only hide the politics threads in the normal threads area, but not in the "Latest Posts" section on the side.
Download this file and unzip it...
Load the extension by going to chrome://extensions/, enable "Developer mode", and clicking "Load unpacked".
Then select the folder that was extracted from the zip file (watch out, because your zip program may unzip it where it is a folder inside of a folder, sort of like the movie Inception - go to the deepest folder layer)
That should do it.
