BATON ROUGE, La. (Oct. 13, 2015) – Louisiana Tech true freshman defensive end Jaylon Ferguson was named Louisiana’s Defensive Player of the Week following his first career start.
Ferguson made his first career start Saturday at UTSA and was often found in the backfield with four tackles for a loss of 20 yards including two solo sacks for a loss of 16 yards. Ferguson tallied seven total tackles (five solo, two assisted) while also being credited with a quarterback hurry as 80 percent of his solo tackles were registered for a loss in LA Tech’s 34-31 win at UTSA.
The state players of the week are voted upon by members of the Louisiana Sports Writers Association. This is the first Player of the Week honor for Ferguson.
Louisiana Tech (4-2) travels to Mississippi State (4-2) this Saturday for an 11 a.m. kickoff that will be televised on the SEC Network.
