I talked with some students last night where I asked why weren't they there this weekend. I was told that Tech police have shut all that down. Places roped off, only certain places for chairs, no coolers, only students that live in the housing may watch from the balconies.
If this is true, we've just killed the atmosphere and one of the best chances of motivating our students for an athletic fee. We will never have a "home run spray" like Ole Miss or really any real school spirit/student support.
My response to what they told me was to go to the administration and beg for the next weekend to allow the students to police themselves. If they can take care of business, then they've earned the opportunity to bring the energy to our sporting events.
If any of you have different information, please share it. We need to really work hard to involve our students and community. We have something special going on between the chalk, it would be a shame to prevent some fantastic memories for students and community members.
