This has been in the news quite a bit down here and I wanted to see perspective from outside the area.
My high school Vandebilt, has seemed to come out looking poorly in this, in that it is widely speculated that a coach basically tattled to the LHSAA about the summer practices.
I know "rules are rules" but its hard to really not think about what the real spirit of these recruiting rules is supposed to prevent. The kid's dad left Vandebilt to take a position in St. Charles public schools. There was never any scenario where he would have returned to Vandebilt.... financially etc. He didn't move to another private school... its not like he mysteriously resurfaces at Curtis or something.
The punishment just seems a little heavy handed to effectively ruin the kid's shot at a possible G5-type level scholarship.
