Today more than ever Louisiana Tech needs A PLAN for athletics. Where does football go from here and with whom, where do our other sports go and with whom, what are the ROI value propositions to make these things happen for stakeholders? WE NEED A DOCUMENTED AND COMMUNICATED PLAN OF ACTION!!!!!
First, the AAC and SBC are NOT an option, so let's not beat those dead horses anymore. What is our long term realistic vision for Louisiana Tech Athletics (Tech)?
Options as we collect exit fees:
• Rebuild the decimated CUSA gutted by the AAC and SBC
• FBS Football Independent with potentially fragmented conferences for other sports
• Drop to FCS
• Drop football altogether
Who will we align with? What partners (businesses, advertisers, conference affiliated universities, Louisiana universities,…) do we strategically align with to advance Tech for the next (1-5, 6-10, and 11-20) years? What is their motivation for partnering with Tech (what is our ROI value proposition that will benefit them)?
How will we fund growth going forward and what is the ROI?
• Student fee- what is the tangible future state vision that will motivate students to vote for increased cost of attendance now and to continue giving AFTER they graduate? Just “raising price” without a valuable return on investment is a great way to reduce retention.
• Alumni gifts- What is the Tech athletics ‘vision’ value proposition that will motivate alumni to give, attend, and spend money in the Tech/Ruston community? "Love your school" is NOT a value proposition.
There is a lot more, but we need a well documented and well communicated plan of action to evangelize the plan/vision to alumni, corporate sponsors, students, and N. Louisiana in general!
Nobody plans to fail, they do fail to plan- like CUSA leadership for example and CUSA's current state is where that leads.
