La Tech will host LSU at 4PM tomorrow afternoon.
All proceeds will go to disaster relief.
LSU lost some key pieces from their Sweet 16 team a year ago but are ranked #22 in the preseason.
Key pieces:
G Javonte Smart (11 ppg, 3 rpg, 2 apg)
G Skyler Mays (13 ppg, 3 rpg)
F Marlon Taylor (7 ppg, 4 rpg)
F Emmit Williams (7 ppg, 5 rpg)
F Darius Days (5 ppg, 4 rpg)
F Trendon Watford (6’9, stretch-4, McDonald’s All-American)
The Tigers don’t have a ton of size up front. Williams & Days are 6’6, not a player on the roster is bigger than 6’9.
Tech dropped a 73-67 decision to LSU last season.
Tech will have a deep roster entering the 2019-2020 season.
Christon has been cleared, I’ll be surprised if he plays though. They’ll take it easy with him early on. He’s just gotten back to 5-on-5 work.
Jean is back after missing last season due to injury. His defense and shooting will be a key throughout the year.
Ledoux is the McNeese transfer, really smooth left-handed strike from the outside.
I doubt Stacey Thomas plays as well. Dealing with a concussion I believe.
I’m really excited to watch this team. I think it’s Konkol’s best team since he’s been at Tech. They’ll play an up tempo style, have depth in the back and front courts. Minutes in the back court will be a battle. A lot of quality players competing for time.
Jean, Christon, and Muhammed were voted captains.
Bracey was a preseason all-conference selection.
Tech was picked 3rd in the preseason conference poll.
I know it’s an exhibition, but this is a big game for Tech. Play an exciting brand of basketball and they have an opportunity to use it as a spring board for some big crowds throughout the year.
