Turning to baseball, coach Jay Johnson met with the media yesterday to share his thoughts on Wednesday’s loss to Louisiana Tech and look ahead to this weekend’s opponents.
Johnson seemed to suggest that what we saw from the team on Wednesday against Ruston was a fluke and not something we’ll see again going forward. “We’re not going to have another defensive night like that again for the rest of the season,” he said with a sense of determination. “That’s just not going to happen. And three high-level players at the top of the order are not going to go 0-for-14 very often.” He added that the players are disappointed in how they played and eager to get back out on the field.
The Tigers will be back at it tonight for the first of four games this weekend. First up on the docket are the Tigers of Towson University, members of the Colonial Athletic Association (CAA). Towson (0-4) was swept by No. 25 Miami on opening weekend in a four-game series, but they gave the Hurricanes trouble in Game 1 and led 6-4 after four innings before eventually losing 8-10. Miami won the other three games convincingly, outscoring the Tigers 35-5.
