Earlier this week, the Dallas Morning News had an article on the men's basketball program at SMU.

According to the A.D., "it certainly does not meet our standards." He thinks SMU can get back after a lackluster season. He noted cumulative effects of injuries, NCAA-mandated scholarship reductions and a series of close calls (losses).

Following Larry Brown's reign as Head Coach, 2013-2016, he had a record of 94-39 (70.5%).

After the first year (2016-2017) with Tim Jankovich as Head Coach, he had a record of 30-5 (85.7%) and first place in the American Athletic Conference. The last two years on the HillTop not so good:
2017-2018: 17-16 (51.5%)
2018-2019: 15-17 (46.9%)

The A.D. came out and said "he can sympathize with his players, coaches, and fans going back to last season; it's been a real tough 13 months." The A.D. was counting the end of last season when SMU lost nine if its last 11 games, as well as this season.

Another coach on the hot seat from his A.D.?
SMU loses a grad transfer and a senior. SMU was down to nine players in the last couple of months.

One coach no longer on the hot seat is Tulane's Head Basketball Coach, Mike Dunleavy, Sr., who got fired today. Tulane went 4-27 (0-18 in AAC play).

Happy St. Pat's Day tomorrow!
