I want to see a few things next week vs UTEP.
1. Where is the air raid offense? All Spring and Fall camp the team practiced moving fast and running plays from the line of scrimmage. We have slowed everything down for some reason. Calling the QB over after every play.
2. Right now we are a balanced team. The strength of the offense right now is the skill guys. I think right now we are 52/48 ratio pass/run. Hello air raid!!!!
3. Piggybacking on the above statement, one of the best athletes on the team is Smoke and maybe Tre and I don't think they are getting enough touches as they are the best on the offensive team.
4. Offensively, we have to open the offense up more. We need to get the Safeties off the hash and you do that with vertical routes by the outside guys and let Smoke and Hebert work underneath. Then you send Hebert and Smoke deep and let the outside guys run underneath. Have a check down with the RB and make LB's tackle in space.
5. I think S. Alabama sat on all of our routes and didn't respect our vertical passing game. With Allen and Louis out of the lineup, we were missing that home run threat and they knew it.
6. Turnovers must stop immediately too many.
7. Must do better after halftime. Its like we go in and come back out as a deer in headlights. Someone needs to keep the juice flowing and have us ready to play after halftime.
Moving forward we have to Pass to set up the run. We can't give half of the offensive touches to a running game that is rushing for less than 100 per game. We have to pick up the pace and go true air raid(gunslinger) and let the chips fall where they may.
If McNeil can't get her done, then we move to Lyddy.
Just my thoughts
