QUARTERBACK — Tech: This matchup is a no-brainer. Tech has a veteran proven quarterback in Jeff Driskel and the Cajuns don't know who their quarterback is. Will it be Brooks Haack or Jalen Nixon? Haack is a better thrower but Nixon is a better athlete and can run.

RUNNING BACKS — Tech: Tech and ULL have elite level running backs with Kenneth Dixon on Tech's side and Elijah McGuire on ULL's. Behind McGuire there is not much but Tech has some depth which gives Tech the nod.

WIDE RECEIVERS — Tech: Gabe Fuselier is ULL's best receiver and is cut from the Trent Taylor mold. Jamal Robinson got hurt during the Tech game last year and hasn't played well this year so far and is there other playmaker at receiver. With Paul Turner, Taylor, Kam McKnight, Marlon Watts, Carlos Henderson or even Marcus Gaines Tech has better depth so the Bulldogs get the nod.

OFFENSIVE LINE — Tech: Outside of ULL guard Mykhael Quave the Cajuns OL is not all that great. ULL transfer Joseph Brunson will see more playing time for Tech after missing time to an ankle injury this year and will rotate with David Mahaffey at center. Lafayette native O'Shea Dugas will be ready for this one and the true freshman has had flashes of brilliance early in the season. Tech's tackles have proven to be steady as long as speed rushers aren't lined up across from them and that's not ULL's forte. Tech gets the nod.

DEFENSIVE LINE — Tech: Vernon Butler is playing at a very high level right now. It seems he and Aaron Brown play to one another's strengths. Vontarrius Dora and Deldrick Canty have played well at moments. ULL plays a 3-4 which means they better have some huge D-Linemen and they do. They're all knocking on 300's door or over 300 pounds in the 2-deep.

LINEBACKERS — Push: ULL has some large linebackers and some SEC transfer linebackers at that. Tech's linebackers are not the biggest but they're all athletic and all can run. This comparison is a push.

SECONDARY — Tech: While Tech's secondary has not played up to the preseason hype, they seem to be finding a groove. ULL's corners are fast but are not the greatest in coverage. Their safeties have struggled and have been bitten by the injury bug. Tech gets the nod.

SPECIAL TEAMS — ULL: Until Tech's special teams are improved, how can anyone give them the nod no matter the competition.
