With Fitch moving over to coach the quarterbacks, Kenny Guiton was hired as the WR coach.

Guiton is exceptional, he connects with the players so well and it’s not in a friendly manner, they truly respect him. I’ll be surprised if he’s around here for more than a year.

Joe Sloan is Joe Sloan, extremely intense. Doesn’t give his guys a pass for anything that is not done right, players gravitate towards him whether they play WR or not.

In 2018, Tech dropped 36 passes. That was the 2nd most nationally. That number needs to improve in a big way.

Adrian Hardy:
-he’ll be the go-to-guy again
-looks to have trimmed down a little bit, had an extra step or two this spring
-I think he’s a possession guy more than true speed guy, I feel like he catches contested balls better than the easy throws, needs to stay focused on the easy slants that I bet he dropped 5 or 6 times a season ago

Isaiah Graham:
-TCU transfer that sat out a season ago, I really like this kid, ultimate team guy that just absolutely loves football, extreme competitor that wanted Amik in every 1-on-1 rep
-Probably didn’t have has good of a spring that I expected, dropped a few too many, but I still think he starts
-As far as NFL potential, he’s probably the best WR we have when you look at size, speed, and route running ability

George Scott:
-Slowed by turf toe this spring
-Looks to really be maturing into the position after playing a lot of RB in HS
-The hope is to RS him in 2019

Javonte Woodard:
-Slowed by a hamstring all spring
-Will be a depth guy at the outside WR spot

Griffin Hebert:
-Best comparison for him is Connor Smith except he’s a little bit better WR, great blocker
-Catches the ball really well in traffic, exceptional route runner
-I don’t think he’ll catch more than 30 balls in 2019 due to so many playmakers at WR, he just won’t be featured

Josh Matthews:
-One of the surprises of the spring, he will see some time in 2019
-Blocks well in screen game

Doyle Adams:
-still learning the playbook, can run the wrong route at times, but made some really nice catches at times, could make an impact down the road in 2020 or 2021

Cee Jay Powell:
-He’s obviously undersized, but he’s consistent on a daily basis, brings good energy every day
-Can have issues with drops at times
-Won’t be able to challenge teams down the field, more of a guy that does everything within 10 yards of LOS
-Can have issues with drops at times
-I would imagine he opens the year as the punt returner

Smoke Harris:
-Had the best spring of any young WR we have, maybe any WR overall
-Best ball carrier on the team, he’s exceptional in space
-His routes consistent of outs, bubbles, speed sweeps, long crossers, and occasional corner route
-Still has drops at times, but improved from day 1 to day 15
-Needs to touch the ball 10-14 times a game, it’ll make our offense better
-More comfortable in who he is as a play and how he fits into the college game than he was in the fall
-Never has a bad day, loves the game of football, never gets tired, took more reps in scrimmages than any skill guy we have

Jake Norris:
-Didn’t shine this spring, solid depth guy
-Good route runner, good hands, can play inside or outside

Tahj Magee:
-Still learning the WR position after playing QB in HS
-He has the talent to be good, but effort must be more consistent on a rep to rep basis
-I can’t see him being a contributor until 2020 at the earliest

Wayne Toussant:
-he’s an absolute burner, blows the top off a defense
-becoming a more refined route runner by the day, Guiton has had a really big impact on him
-I think he’s the 3rd outside guy behind Hardy and Graham in terms of snaps in 2019 at the moment
-We have to be able to get him the ball on deep routes, he’ll be open
-Another guy that is a really good ball carrier
-I would love to isolate him in the slot at times on safeties

Praise Okorie:
-Continues to progress at the WR position
-Reps increased over the course of the spring, shows a lot of toughness, doesn’t mind a nagging injury, wants to be on the field
-Great teammate, loves being on the football field, never has a bad day
-Likely to be the kick returner

Joe Walker:
-Another guy that surprised me this spring, I didn’t know who he was until this spring
-He can really run on the outside
-Not all that polished yet, but he’s just a RS FR, Guiton really likes him and it’s easy to see why
-Quiet kid who goes about his business on a daily basis with consistent effort
-He’ll be a contributor here

Bobby Holly:
-Probably the most respected player on the team
-Just a football player, catches the ball well

Jacob Adams:
-Transitioning from LB to H-Back this spring
-He’ll learn the position in 2019 before starting in 2020
-A lot more athletic than he’s given credit for

Overall:
-I hope this group performs to their capabilities, Guiton has been a valuable addition
-Both Guiton and Sloan have the respect of their units and coach them so hard
-Could be argued that when they are at their best, they are the best WR unit in Conference USA
