The 2020 recruiting cycle came to an end Wednesday with the Bulldogs pulling off the 68thranked class nationally and #2 class in Conference USA.

Now, all the attention turns towards spring practice. Spring ball will get going on March 13thand will conclude with the spring game on April 18th.

Here is my pre-spring depth chart at the moment.

If a player started multiple games in 2019, I put his name in bold.

Offense:

QB: Luke Anthony or Aaron Allen, Westin Elliott, Jakson Thomson, JD Head

RB: Justin Henderson, Israel Tucker, DeAndre Marcus, Elijah Hines

XWR: Adrian Hardy, George Scott, Jerrod Means, Kyle Maxwell

HWR: Cee Jay Powell or Smoke Harris, Jawaun Johnson, Tahj Magee, Jake Norris, Doyle Adams

AWR: Griffin Hebert, Josh Matthews, Zach Cousar

ZWR: Isaiah Graham, Wayne Toussant, Praise Okorie, Joe Walker

H-Back: Jacob Adams, Carson Rieder

LT: Willie Allen, Michael Gause, Noah Pitre, Walker Hankinson

LG: Josh Mote, Stevie Ballard

C: Kody Russey, Abraham Delfin

RG: Christian Henderson, Taylor Fondal

RT: Biron Rossell or Antawn Lewis, Jonah Brewster

Aaron Allen will take the first snap, but I don’t see it taking very long for Anthony to get up to speed.

Can Hines force his way on to the field and bring a speed element to the roster?

The talent that Tech has at WR is absurd.

Jawaun Johnson could play inside or outside WR.

It will be extremely interesting to see if Tech slides Lewis inside to right guard. I think it would be a fantastic move, especially if Rossell or Gause can successfully play right tackle. In my opinion, we will see very little drop off on the OL.

Defense:

DE: Deshon Hall, Eric Kendzior

NT: DJ Jackson, Keivie Rose or Malik Wells

DE: Milton Williams, Steven Shaw or Mykol Clark

OLB: Willie Baker (will miss the spring due to ACL surgery), Tristan Allen

OLB: Ezekiel Barnett, Allen Walker or Brandon Floyd

ILB: Trey Baldwin, Joren Dickey, Isaiah Windmon

ILB: Alex Zayed, Maki Carabin, Reggie Cleveland

S: Beejay Williamson, Christian Archangel, Kollin Hurt

S: Jaiden Cole, Khiry Morrison

CB: Zach Hannibal, Brodrick Calhoun, Charvis Thornton

CB: Jemaurian Jones, CJ Johnson, Turner

There is going to be a tremendous amount of positional flexibility defensively. It’ll be interesting to see how Blackwell uses that to his advantage.

Deshon Hall could play OLB, and Tech could put Willie Baker’s hand back in the dirt.

Milton Williams could slide inside to DT at times.

Rose can play DE or DT/NT, he continues to grow from what I’ve heard.

Shaw needs to get to 270 and get stronger, Tech needs him in 2020. If he doesn’t, Clark is going to take his role. Clark progressed tremendously from the start of fall camp through the bowl game. Good looking young player.

Is Joren Dickey that long, rangy LB that we’ve craved for years?

Safety is thin, especially before Taylor-Cortez gets here this summer. Archangel will get a bunch of reps which will be good for him.

Jones can play safety as well as cornerback. The cornerbacks are going to get lit up by the WRs this spring because of their youth, but it will help them a ton heading into the fall. Those young CBs, all of them, are intense competitors, they won’t back down.

Special Teams:

DS: Blankenship, White

K: Boniol, Barnes

P: Farlow, Barnes

PR: Powell or Harris

KR: Toussant, Graham

I’ll answer any questions that you all may have. If I left someone out, please let me know. Thoughts?
