From Louisiana Tech SID
RUSTON - Louisiana Tech received three points in the final 2008 USA Today/NFCA Division I Top 25 poll to finish tied for 33rd in the country.
Head coach Sarah Dawson’s team finished the season 37-29 after an improbable late season run which saw the Lady Techsters record four straight victories over Top 25 teams on their way to the 2008 Western Athletic Conference Tournament title.
Tech earned its first trip to the NCAA Tournament since 1995 where it knocked off SEC foe Auburn twice before falling to eventual national runner-up Texas A&M in the College Station Regional finals.
The Lady Techsters were one of four WAC teams to receive votes as Fresno State was ranked 15th and Nevada 21st while Hawaii received 28 points to finish 28th.
Tech will return all but one letterwinner next year as the Lady Techsters lose four-year starter Regan Clark to graduation.
