There has been a lot of movement in regards to the specialists for 2021, so I wanted to give an update on where everything stands.
- K/P Jacob Barnes -- 12/14 FGs, long of 51, 49 punts for a 37.2 yard average, 10 inside the 20 in 2020
- K/P Cesar Barajas -- 4/4 FGs, long of 49, 16 punts for a 42.4 yard average, 2 inside the 20, 30 kickoffs and 4 touchbacks in 2020 at Southern University
- K/P Austin McCready -- 2 kickoffs and 2 touchbacks at in 2020 at Memphis
- K/P Caleb Phillips -- will be a walk-on from Ruston High, and I'm attaching his 2019 highlights. I don't see his full 2020 on his hudl, he'll compete at K & P, some believe he may be closer as a K right now, but he has great potential in both.
- P Arlind Bengu -- will be a walk-on from Avon HS in Avon, OH
Barnes, McCready, Phllips, and Bengu will all have 4 years of eligibility remaining. Barnes and Barajas are the only 2 that are on scholarship.
Departures: Garin Boniol & Jakob Brown have entered the transfer portal.
Other Returners: Reeves Blankenship will be the deep snapper, Noah White will be the holder.
Speaking to some sources close to the program, they are fired up about all 5 of the specialists. They love the talent level and the competitive toughness that each guys brings.
