Thought this was interesting and illustrated why shot selection is so important for our team (and for all other teams for that matter). These numbers were pulled from Tech's shot data and broken into groups based on distance from the rim. Dunks were excluded because they are understood to be automatic. Keep in mind 15ft is how far the free throw line is from the backboard for perspective on these distances.
The further we shoot 2 pointers from the basket, the more pointless it becomes (and this is true of nearly all NCAA and NBA teams). When you put those percentages in terms of points per shot that you score on average from each shot, it really puts it in perspective. We pulled the top 7 scorers for readability (left off Crawford due to his injury but his is similar) and put the team total. This is why it is so important to either play at the rim or shoot 3s, and any 2 pointer taken from 10 ft and beyond is basically a wasted possession.
