Today we wrap up our series on the Top 30 Returning Players for La Tech in 2020. Was there every any question? The #1 returner is C Kody Russey.
1 -- C Kody Russey (RS SR) -- Russey signed with La Tech out of Burleson, TX in the 2016 recruiting cycle over ULM, Texas State, and Tulane. Russey was a two-star recruit.
Russey set a Texas state record by deadlifting 740 pounds. Finished first in the Texas High School Powerlifting Association state championships as a senior.
From the second he signed, I think it was easy to see that Russey was going to play and play early.
As a RS FR in 2017, he saw action in all 13 games on the offensive line. He made his first career start at guard against South Carolina before taking over as the full-time C in week 6 against UAB. He was named to the CUSA All-Freshman Team following the season.
As a RS SO in 2018, Russey started all 13 games at C and was named Honorable Mention All-CUSA following the season.
As a RS JR in 2019, Russey started all 13 games at C and was named Honorable Mention All-CUSA following the season.

This past fall camp he missed a couple of weeks, normally guys will stay inside in the field house and get their rehab or treatment in. Kody Russey? Out on the field supporting his fellow teammates for the entirety of practice everyday.

What is Russey's outlook for 2020? He'll be a team captain, he'll be on the field for every competitive snap that there is this season, and he'll be a 1st Team All-CUSA selection.
