Skip was on w/ Sean Fox today:

About putting Aaron in late, it was as blatant blaming Sloan like Cory Diaz's quote indicated. They discussed it, both agreed that Luke was really struggling, understood that it was such a difficult situation to put Aaron in, but wanted to go with him. Knew they'd be second guessed either way.

Have missed Smoke some the last couple of weeks, need to get him back. CeeJay played well, but thought Smoke might have broken a couple of ones that CeeJay didn't, particularly the punt return.

Offense played well in first half, couldn't get anything going in second half. We have to do a better job of finding a way to get the ball down the field. Safeties are crowding LOS against us because they know we can't attack the field vertically w/ our protection up front. UTSA loaded box in second half, forced us to throw it better and we could do it. We have to get better yards per play.

When I look at UTSA game, there are positives on offense in first half, good special teams, 3/4 of a positive game on defense. We have a lot of young guys that are really coming along on defense. We haven't had a LB in top 50 in tackles since I've been here, Baldwin & Grubbs are playing exceptionally well. The LB corp has a chance to be the best we've had since we've been here. Mentioned Kendzior, Clark, Williams, Bell, Rose, and Wilbon playing well on defense. Said we got a chance to be really good. Safeties are playing well together. There are positives to build on. ST wise, best performance of the year. UTSA had 4 punt returns for -1 yards. Johnson, Williamson, Magee and Rieder were excellent covering punts. Need to get our offense going and score some points. We have gotten better in a lot of areas.

No underestimating the significance of the UAB game on Saturday. They are so good defensively, highly ranked in a number of categories. Offensively, they like to run the football with Brown. Seems like he's been there forever. If we want to win a conference championship, we have to win. That said, we aren't going to quit if we don't win a conference championship, but that's our goal, too much left to play for to put this whole season on this one game.
