Tech will host UTEP tomorrow night at 6PM. UTEP is 6-9 overall with a 1-2 record in league play.
The Miners lost to Southern Miss 85-75 last night.
Leading scorer and SMU transfer, Keith Frazier, is currently away on an indefinite leave of absence. I assume he won’t play tomorrow night. The 6’5” guard is averaging 14.5 points per game.
Big man Matt Willms is averaging 11.6 ppg and 6 rebounds per game.
Guard, Omega Harris, who seems like he’s been at UTEP for 10 years, is averaging 11.5 points per game.
The Miners are scoring only 68.8 points per game and are being outrebounded by 3.5 rebounds per game.
If we know anything about a Tech & UTEP matchup on the hardwood, it’ll likely be a slow pace and a game in which UTEP will really force Tech to grind it out in the half court with their zone defense.
Just as a reminder, Mr. Technical himself, Tim Floyd, retired as head coach of the Miners after a 1-5 start and will not be on the sideline Saturday night.
Obviously Tech has not had an ideal start to conference play, but lose tomorrow night and they are staring at a 0-6 start to conference play with a road trip to Middle Tennessee and UAB coming next week.
