"Three changes from last week: Charlotte, Pittsburgh and Nebraska replace Ole Miss, Texas Tech and Louisiana Tech as hosts. The fact that the Rebels, Red Raiders and Bulldogs were seeded 10th, 11th and 12th in last week’s projection and now find themselves outside the top 16 illustrates how fluid this race still is at the 10-week mark."
"Louisiana Tech suffered a big setback with a home series split against a Marshall club that entered the weekend just 6-22 overall. Those are two bad losses that dropped La Tech 17 spots to No. 26 in the RPI, knocking them out of hosting position for the moment. The Bulldogs still sit atop the C-USA West standings at 14-6, a tick ahead of 13-6 Southern Miss, and Tech owns a 5-3 record on the season against the Golden Eagles, so they remain ahead in the pecking order despite USM’s slight edge in the RPI (No. 21). But Charlotte leapt over both clubs by taking three of four from Old Dominion, improving the 49ers to 17-3 in C-USA and No. 10 in the RPI. Charlotte faces ODU four more times this coming weekend in Norfolk, and we think a 2-2 split in that series should be enough to secure a home regional for Robert Woodard’s club. But C-USA could still very well get two hosts if Louisiana Tech fares well in road series at Middle Tennessee and FIU over the next two weeks, or if Southern Miss dominates its next two four-game sets at Rice and vs. MTSU."
Conference USA -- 4 Bids (Louisiana Tech, Southern Miss, Old Dominion, Charlotte)
All 4 are "Safely In"
"No change from last week. C-USA, the No. 5 RPI conference, looks locked in as a four-bid league right now, with each of its top four teams ranked inside the top 30 of the RPI and sporting strong conference records. It would behoove ODU to avoid losing its second straight four-game series against Charlotte this weekend, but if the Monarchs can at least split, they should be fine going forward."
