D1Baseball.com has Tech as "secure" when it comes to hosting an NCAA Regional.
Tech is "On the Bubble -- OUT" when it comes to being a national seed. The Top 8 teams are a National Seed.
When it comes to hosting:
"Also keep an eye on Conference USA. Louisiana Tech is in great shape at 12-4 in the league and No. 9 in the RPI, with a 5-3 mark against Southern Miss. Charlotte (No. 18 RPI, 14-2 in C-USA) and Old Dominion (No. 28 RPI, 13-3 in C-USA) will face each other in eight straight games over the next two weekends, and if one team can win five or six of those eight games, it will have a real chance to host — especially if Charlotte can do it, given its current advantage in the RPI and one-game edge in the standings. Southern Miss is also still in the mix at No. 16 in the RPI and 10-5 in the league, but its 3-5 record against the only other regional contender in its division (La Tech) is a black mark that holds it back. Charlotte and ODU also fill geographic needs, while USM does not, considering Mississippi State and Ole Miss both seem very likely to host."
In regards to At-Larges:
Tech, Southern Miss, Charlotte, and ODU are all in the NCAA Tournament if it started today. None are on the bubble.
"No change from the midseason projection. C-USA, the No. 5 RPI conference, looks locked in as a four-bid league right now, with La Tech (No. 9), Southern Miss (No. 16), Charlotte (No. 18) and ODU (No. 28) all in great shape in the RPI and with strong conference records. This league is very top-heavy, but that top four has created enough separation from the rest of the pack to cruise into regionals, assuming either Charlotte or Old Dominion doesn’t destroy the other when the two teams meet for eight straight games over the next two weekends."
