For what feels like forever, we've always debated whether a good offense or good defense is most important to having sustained success. I think we can all agree that Louisiana Tech was good on both sides of the ball in 2019 and have a "complete" football team under Skip Holtz. Holtz understands that being good on both offense and defense is the key to long term success.
Here is a list of team that scored at least 32 PPG or more and allowed 22 PPG or less in 2019.
Clemson
LSU
Ohio State
Penn State
Florida
Oregon
Wisconsin
Baylor
Auburn
Alabama
Notre Dame
Utah
Michigan
Washington
Louisiana Tech
Air Force
App State
ULL
Louisiana Tech won 10 games for the first time since 1984 in 2019. While we can point to a number of different things, one thing is for certain, Tech could beat you in a number of different ways this season. It wasn't just a good offense or a good defense, it was a good team. All the teams listed about had really solid seasons. Three were in the playoff, another five are in NY6 Bowl games. Lastly, there were only 4 G5 programs on this list. It may seems like it's taking forever, but I truly believe Tech is inching forward, slowly but surely. Thoughts?
