So you all are aware of HogDawg's report on BBB about Tech adding a transfer P5 QB for the 2021 season.
I told you all that I would dig into it, and I have.
I've come to the conclusion that West Virginia transfer QB Austin Kendall is the guy after talking to a number of QBs in the portal.
Kendall was the #4 pro-style QB out of HS in 2016 according to Rivals.com.
After redshirting in 2016, Kendall backed up Baker Mayfield in 2016, redshirted in 2017, backed up Kyler Murray in 2018 at Oklahoma.
Following the 2018 season, Kendall transferred to West Virginia.
In 2019, Kendall completed 62% of his throws for 1,989 yards, 12 TDs, 10 INTs. He played through a pec injury throughout most of the year.
In 2020, Kendall was the back-up to Jarret Doege. Kendall came off the bench in the Liberty Bowl to help the Mountaineers erase a 21-10 deficit at the half and defeat Army 24-21.
For his career, Kendall is 226/366 (62%) for 2,418 yards, 17 TDs, 10 INTs.
I will caution, this is not a done deal until he shows up on campus.
Penn State, App State, FIU, and Bowling Green all showed interest. Clemson offered him a scholarship to back-up DJ Uiagalelei, but he declined.
