I wanted to re-evaluate where things currently stand on the grad transfer market.
First off, there’s a dead period currently, so there isn’t necessarily a ton going on. Offers going out to 2021 kids, but minimal contact across the board otherwise. I believe that period ends some time around the end of the month.
So who has Tech added from the grad transfer market? QB Luke Anthony
Where could Tech possibly still be looking? NT, S, K, OL
How many spots does Tech have? It’s all fluid, but I think somewhere around 2-4, possibly 5.
Keep in mind, Tech isn’t adding a body to add a body. Tech is looking to add guys that will contribute without a doubt in 2020. Stunting the growth of younger players is not the mentality of this staff.
Who are some names to watch? NT Gerald Wilbon from TX, K Tyler Sumpter from Troy, maybe an OL like Donavaughn Campbell from LSU, DB Kiondre Thomas (Tech recruited out of HS) from Minnesota, DB Khalil Felder from Va Tech. There are many more names out there, obviously. These seem like solid fits based on my research.
I think at this point, the biggest needs are probably DT/NT and K/P. OL & DB are the probably a secondary priority, but if the right guy is available and Tech can fit them in, they will.
