Here are the players that redshirted in 2018. There are 26 in total. If there is not a classification next to a name, they were a freshman this year.
QB Aaron Allen: 3-star recruit in 2018, saw action in 2 games
CB Brodrick Calhoun: 3-star recruit in 2018, I wouldn’t be surprised to see him challenge for the 3rd CB role in 2019
WR Smoke Harris: 2-star recruit in 2018, started the season as the starting kick returner before redshirting, caught two touchdowns against Southern
S Bee Jay Williamson: 3-star recruit in 2018, saw action in 4 games at safety, should be in the two-deep in 2019
RB DeAndre Marcus: 2-star recruit in 2018, saw action in 4 games, mainly on special teams, had 3 rushes for 15 yards against MSU
RB Jordan Myles: Walk-on RB from Benton
S Derek Turner: 3-star recruit in 2018, saw action in 4 games, will challenge for playing time in 2019 at safety, at a minimum will play special teams
S/LB Xavier Lodge: 2-star recruit in 2018, a real thumper, little bit of a tweener when it comes to being a safety or linebacker
LB Isaiah Windmon: 3-star recruit in 2018, saw action in 2 games, recovered from an ACL injury suffered in senior year of high school. Needs to add weight, but really talented
DT DJ Jackson: 2-star recruit in 2018, really athletic DT, played some RB in HS
OL Noah Pitre: Walk-on OL in 2018 from Dutchtown HS, an absolute freak athletically, he’ll start one day
OL Drake Carroll: Walk-on OL in 2018 from Holy Savior Menard in Alexandria
OL Christian Henderson: 2-star recruit in 2018, has had to drop some weight and re-build his body, but shows potential
OL BIron Rossell: 3-star recruit in 2018, I think he’s the best OL in the 2018 class, really good athlete
WR Wayne Toussant: 2-star recruit in 2018, elite level speed, an absolute burner, he’ll contribute in 2019
WR Tahj Magee: 2-star recruit in 2018, making the move from HS QB to WR, will be a slot guy
DE Steven Shaw: 2-star recruit in 2018, had a really impressive fall camp, even pushed to get on the field as a true freshman, he’s still at DE, but I think he has room to add weight and be a DT
S Jaiden Cole (SO): 3-star recruit in 2017, was the #53 athlete in the country in his recruiting class, played in 4 games, if Daniel Lewis doesn’t get a medical redshirt, I would say he’s the front runner to start at safety
LB Trey Baldwin (JR): 2-star recruit in 2018 from Trinity Valley CC, he’ll see time at LB in 2019, he’ll play the WILL spot, has really gotten his body into shape during his redshirt year
LB Brandon Floyd (JR): 2-star recruit in 2018 from Trinity Valley CC, saw action early in the year before a shoulder injury shut him down for the season
QB Westin Elliott (JR): walk-on prior to the 2017 season, earned a scholarship, served as J’Mar’s back-up in both 2017 and 2018
WR Isaiah Graham (JR): transferred to Tech from TCU prior to the 2018 season, was the #82 WR in the country in 2016, he’s an absolute stud, a joy to watch him practice in a year he knew he wasn’t going to play
WR/TE Zach Cousar (JR): 3-star recruit in 2016, caught one touchdown in 2017, was expected to really contribute out of the slot but a knee injury in the spring kept him out for the entire season
DE Eric Kendzior (JR): 2-star recruit in 2016, missed the 2018 season due to injury, has proved he can rush the passer in limited time his first two years
LB Randy Hogan (SR): 2-star recruit in 2017, missed the 2018 season due to injury, will provide depth at LB in 2019, has re-made his body in his redshirt year
OL Gewhite Stallworth (SR): not rated as a recruit in 2016, missed the 2018 with a shoulder injury, will be in the running to start at tackle in 2019
*On WR Praise Okorie, he graduated HS in 2017, so the 2017 football season will serve as his redshirt year, the 2018 season will be his redshirt freshman year, and he’ll be a redshirt sophomore in 2019 I believe.
*OL Walker Hankinson and RB Elijah Hines signed in 2018 and gray-shirted during the 2018 season. They will both be true freshman in 2019.
*Who will be contributors in 2019 among the 2018 redshirts?
