Louisiana Tech will host Southern Miss in a 4-game Conference USA series beginning Friday night.

Game Times:

Friday - 6 PM
Saturday (DH) - 2 PM
Sunday - 1 PM

All 4 games will be aired on CUSA.tv (subscription required).

Southern Miss hasn't lost a conference game since Tech took 3 of 4 in Hattiesburg to open C-USA play. They'll be hungry for revenge.

Probable Pitchers:

Friday: LHP Jonathan Fincher (6-0, 1.35) vs RHP Hunter Stanley (5-1, 2.09)
Saturday (G1): RHP Ryan Jennings (2-2, 5.15) vs RHP Walker Powell (5-1, 2.49)
Saturday (G2): LHP Cade Gibson (3-2, 4.75) vs RHP Ben Ethridge (3-1, 2.59)
Sunday: RHP Jarret Whorff (6-1, 2.92) vs LHP Drew Boyd (2-2, 3.65)

Top Hitters:

- Charlie Fischer: .333, 5 HR, 20 RBI, .545 OBP, will miss the series due to injury
- Gabe Montenegro: .345, 2 HR, 14 RBI, 8/15 against Tech in the first series, leadoff hitter, gap power, but he can drive it out of the yard at times
- Reed Trimble: .305, 7 HR, 28 RBI, good base stealer, not a big dude, left-handed hitter
- Danny Lynch: .275, 7 HR, 21 RBI, 3/13 in first series against Tech
- Slade Wilks: .167, 1 HR, 12 RBI, he'll likely get the first crack at replacing Fischer in the lineup, FR left-handed hitter that has some pop

Since the Tech series, they've really heated up offensively and are averaging 8.4 runs per game. That includes a game in which they were shutout.

USM Pitching Staff:

Really good pitching staff, one of the best in the country with a 3.16 team ERA. Biggest key for Tech will be getting into the bullpen. Bullpen guys are in the bullpen for a reason.

National Ranks in some Statistics:

ERA - 8
Hits Allowed per 9 IP - 27
K:BB Ratio - 1
WHIP - 4
K per 9 IP - 31

I thought USM pulled Stanley too quickly in the first match-up, he had shut Tech out for 6 innings. That will be something to watch in the opener, do they try to get an extra inning or two out of him?

Garrett Ramsey is the closer, has 7 saves on the season. He allowed 2 run in 0.2 IP in the first series, can he shake it? He's a young guy that doesn't have a ton of innings under his belt in his career.

None of the 4 starters walk many guys at all. Stanley has the most walks at 11, but that has come in 51.2 IP. They'll have a quick hook with Boyd on Sunday, he's not averaging 5 innings per start.

Overall:

- We'll see if Netterville is back this weekend, Burroughs didn't sound overly optimistic on Tuesday. Sounds like Ray will be ready to go.
- No secret, want to host a regional if you're Tech? Win this series. That simple. USM is the top dog in this league, you have to take it from them.

Should be electric out at the Love Shack throughout the weekend.
