Scouting the Roadrunners
Top Draft Prospects
OF Dylan Rock -- .329, 11 2B, 8 HR, 36 RBI, 9 SB
RHP Arturo Guajardo -- 6.05 era in 19.1 IP, has strikeout stuff, 23 K
Top Freshmen
RHP Ryan Ward -- 8.56 ERA in 13.2 IP, 17 hits allowed, 12 BB, 12 K
Pitching
RHP Luke Malone -- has started the most games, but they used him twice in relief last week, 8 HR allowed in 42 IP
RHP Daniel Garza -- 4.35 ERA in 20.2 over 11 apps
RHP Hunter Mason -- factors into a lot of decisions, he's in the game out of bullpen when game is tight, 4.79 ERA in 41.1 IP of 18 relief appearances, rarely walks guys
RHP John Chomko -- 4.91 ERA in 25.2 IP
LHP Grant Miller -- 5.75 ERA over 20.1 IP
RHP Reece Easterling -- 6.08 ERA over 26.2 IP, allowed 40 his and 6 HRs
Listen, they aren't very good on the mound. They have guys that start games, but they aren't starting pitchers if that makes sense. Hunter Mason is their best arm, Shane Daugherty was supposed to be the FRI night guy, but he got hurt. They throw a bunch of dudes a few innings at a time. 5.56 team era, allowed 53(!!!) home runs.
They only have 2 LHPs on the roster.
Hitters
IF Griffin Paxton -- brother of former Tech 3B Mason Paxton, .348, 7 HR, 37 RBI
IF Josh Lamb -- .342, 5 HR, 37 RBI
C Nick Thornquist -- .335, 12 HR, 43 RBI
OF Dylan Rock -- .329, 8 HR, 36 RBI, 9/10 SB
They are a lot like Tech offensively, average over 8 runs per game. They have tons of power, they don't bunt much, don't steal many bases.
It will be an offensive weekend in Ruston, there is no denying that. Tech needs to win at least 3, bottom line.
