Pitching Probables:

Saturday (G1): RHP Ryan Jennings (3-3, 5.01) vs LHP Peyton Wittington (3-2, 2.90)
Saturday (G2): LHP Cade Gibson (3-3, 5.56) vs RHP Zach Kennan (2-3, 2.85)
Sunday: RHP Jarret Whorff (7-1, 3.26) vs RHP Trent Seibert (1-2, 4.75)

Scouting the Blue Raiders:

MTSU comes in at 21-17-1 overall and 10-9-1 in C-USA play.

Pitching Staff:

Aaron Brown -- FRI night guy, 87 K, 11 BB in 61 IP, tells you all you need to know, ERA is skewed by 9 HR allowed, wipeout slider
Peyton Wittington -- not overpowering, moves it in, out, up, & down, going to come right at you
Zach Keenan -- not overpowering, will come right at you with what God has gifted him with, decent breaking ball
Trent Seibert -- he's ok, hasn't given a ton of length, they'll go to 'pen in a hurry on a Sunday, will force you to beat him
David Zoz -- left-hander, top reliever with 32 IP over 17 apps, only 20 hits allowed in those 32 IP, they can extended him 5-6 innings on a Sunday if need be, nothing special but he'll force you to beat him
Austin Cheeley -- HUGE right-hander, 4 HR allowed in 17 IP, will walk a guy at times, force him to be athletic and get off the mound

Guys, these top 6 arms can pitch. They come right at you, they don't walk guys. Outside of Brown, it's not exceptional stuff, but they aren't going to beat themselves on the mound. Behind these top 6, they'll mix and match a bunch in hopes of getting decent results.

Top Hitters:

SS Fausto Lopez -- undersized kid at 5'8, ultimate grinder, hits .294, 12 extra base hits, 18/28 in SB
2B JT Mabry -- .261, 6 HR, 19 RBI, 7/10 SB
3B Brett Coker -- .261, 4 HR, 21 RBI, 12/16 SB
LF Hunter Sullivan -- .329, 2 HR, 7 RBI, hits in the 4-hole, doesn't walk much, he's there to hack, will strikeout, in the lineup to swing it, 7/9 SB
RF Cole Escher -- .325, 0 HR, 9 RBI, hits in the 3-hole, 16 BB/HBP to only 8 K, 5/6 SB

They only hit .240 as a team, they don't have a bunch of power, they strikeout a good amount, but when they do get on base, EVERY SINGLE GUY WILL RUN. Free passes in this series can be a killer. They've stolen 84 bases. Top 3-4 guys in lineup can swing it some, but in the bottom half you can't let them get on and let the top come back around to beat you.

Steele Netterville is expected to be back in the Tech lineup this weekend.

Guys, MTSU isn't Marshall. They don't suck. To win 3 or 4 this weekend, Tech is going to need to play really well.

Also, the field in Murfreesboro SUCKS.
