Fall camp starts TOMORROW!!

Let’s go!!

Alright, it’s time, let’s look at the offensive line for 2021.

The offensive line was not good in 2020, and that may be putting it nicely. The Bulldogs averaged only 2.9 yards per carry and allowed 29 sacks in 2020.

Dave DeGuglielmo was hired to coach the OL in 2021. Coach Guge comes to Louisiana Tech with 16 years of NFL experience and 12 years of collegiate experience.

Can Guge fix the issues? We’ll find out.

Josh Mote and Abraham Delfin return as the veterans on the offensive line.

Mote will start at LG, Delfin will slide over to C in 2021 after starting all 10 games at RG in 2020.

Biron Rossell, Dakota White, Walker Hankinson, Michael Gause, Jerren Gilbert, Jonah Brewster, Bert Hale, and Ray Kelly are the other returners up front.

Rossell is fully healthy, that’s the most important thing. He was banged up at end of 2019, never got to really get into good shape before he was thrust into action at LT last season where he really struggled. Rossell will get a shot to earn the LT spot in camp after working at RG in the spring.

Dakota White is the most talented offensive lineman on the team. Will he earn the LT spot? He flashed numerous times in 2020 as a TR FR.

Walker Hankinson will start out at RT. Hankinson can play, his weight is up to an acceptable level, but is the mean streak there that would allow for him to be really successful?

Gause and Kelly might see a little time in some blowout type games.

Gilbert, Brewster, and Hale still need some time to develop.

Tech also hit the transfer market hard in the off-season as they tried to remake things up front.

Sam Williams (ULM), Kellton Hollins (TCU), and Chris Fournier (Lehigh) were all brought in to play big roles in 2021.

Williams was in for the spring. He slots in as a T/G. He’ll compete at both spots in fall camp. I lean towards him being the swing G/T up front.

Hollins will play RG for the Bulldogs. The Zachary, LA native is looking to close out his collegiate career in solid fashion.

Fournier will open camp at RT. He’s played T/G/C in his career, brings a lot of experience to the unit. He'll compete with Sam Williams and Walker Hankinson for RT.

The 2021 recruiting class up front included DeMarcus Gordon, Carson Bruno, Kenneth Bannister, and Erron Bean.

Gordon was brought in from the JC ranks. He’ll be in the two-deep, but I don’t think he’ll play a huge role without a few injuries.

Bruno, Bannister, and Bean will all likely redshirt.

Based on the guys coming back + what has been added, I'd imagine that Rossell, White, Mote, Delfin, Hollins, Williams, Fournier, and Hankinson are the top 8 coming into camp.

Guge is a big proponent of cross-training guys to play multiple spots, I’d expect to see some guys move around when injuries occur.

The OL will be improved in 2021, but how much the unit improves may determine how legit of a C-USA contender Tech really is.
