FOOTBALL SUMMER SERIES 2023 | LA Tech Football Decade Rankings

@cwardell03 had completed his look at the past 10 seasons of LA Tech football.

Today he ranks the teams 1-10 + his top 5 QB performances of the last 10 seasons. Thoughts?

BASKETBALL Floor Time

Over the last few years several of us have commented on how badly our court has yellowed. Most will remember @alphalfa7972 calls for it to be refinished every time he sees a home game on TV.

I've commented in the past that the only thing keeping us from making @alphalfa7972 happy is $40,000. Well time has past since I posted that and now the cost is $50,000 but that's not just a refinish but includes a redesign as well.

Here are the good bits. Very shortly we'll get to review 3 design options and cast a vote. In addition we, the small to medium donors, will have the opportunity, via Bull Market, to support the project.

News should be breaking later today.

Bud Light Causes AG Glass Plant Closure in Simsboro, LA

Ardagh Glass Packaging– North America is shutting down its Simsboro glass plant in Lincoln Parish. “Pursuant to this program and in response to recent weakness in market demand, we have today announced certain adjustments to our manufacturing footprint involving the closure of our Ruston (Simsboro), Louisiana, and Wilson, North Carolina glass production facilities, effective mid-July 2023". Approximately 250 employees in the Simsboro facility will be laid off.

Glass demand has dwindled in recent months as Bud Light suffered historically bad sales numbers triggered by the nation’s No. 1 beer brand launching a controversial marketing tie-in with transgender influencer Dylan Mulvaney. That marketing campaign has brought a wave of pushback and boycotts from many consumers across the nation, impacting sales.

Enrollment Growth

We know that we were (we think) trying to reach 20,000 in enrollment. I think it’s safe to say that isn’t going to happen. So instead, what could a potential path back down to 8,000 - 10,000 do? Is there a viable model to raise admission standards, raise tuition and work more of a public private model?

We need some sort of differentiator.

OFF TOPIC Sports Bucket List

I had a really good discussion at work this morning about what everyone’s top 5 sports bucket list is and things that they want to do or added to what they want to do in the future. One of my bosses checked off 3 that I have on mine (final four, the masters, nfl draft) but I checked off on one that he has on his (BCS/NY6 game). I wanted to hear what others have on their list.

My top 5 sports bucket list
1) The Masters - never been but I watch every year and want to go
2) NFL Draft
3) NCAA Tournament/ Final Four - I am only going if Tech makes it in… so I might be waiting on that for a while
4) Indy 500 - I might get to check that off next year
5) World Series - I have had two opportunities but something always happens that screws it up for me. I think the Astros have 1 more shot to go and if they go again I am moving heaven and earth to go.
