Josh Banes, Central Hinds Academy
A righthander with a fastball that sits in the high 80s and rings up into the 90s, Banes is going to Louisiana Tech next year. He was 5-1 in 41 innings as a junior, striking out 37 batters. He hit .356 with 22 RBIs, and made only three errors in 68 chances. “Old school work ethic,” coach Doug Shanks said. “Against Prep he struck out eight and walked none, and kept his velocity.”
Britt Netterville, Centreville Academy
A speedster, Netterville stole 31 bases for Centreville last season while hitting .386 (getting on base at a .557 clip) with four home runs, 24 RBI and 40 runs scored. “Britt is a great competitor and his work ethic exceeds any kid I’ve coached,” coach Jason Horne said. Netterville is going to Louisiana Tech, which likes him as an infielder and right-handed pitcher.
