He was 74, a football coach, a lifer and well-traveled. Carmichael’s first job was at Trenton State in 1961, his last at Tufts in 2009.The litany in between? Merchant Marine Academy. Boston College (2 stints), Jacksonville Jaguars, Cleveland Browns, Chicago Bears, Pittsburgh, Louisiana Tech, Holy Cross, Tufts.
