Let's take a look at J'Mar's 2017 season and see which direction he is trending:

Game 1: (Northwestern State) 18/35 276 yards 2 TD, 10 rushes 72 yards
Game 2: (Mississippi State) 10/23 140 0 TD 1 INT, 7 rushes -9 yards
Game 3: (Western Kentucky) 22/39 306 yards 1 TD, 1 INT, 7 rushes 10 yards
Game 4: (South Carolina) 23/33 281 yards 1 TD 1 INT, 5 rushes 12 yards
Game 5: (South Alabama) 24/39 317 yards 3 TD, 11 rushes 37 yards

Game 12: (UTSA) 7/21 101 yards 0 TD 1 INT, 10 rushes 18 yards 1 TD
Game 13 (SMU) 15/23 216 yards 3 TD, 9 rushes 15 yards 1 TD

Season Stats: 229/409 (56%) 2,974 yards 16 TD 5 INT, 119 rushes 371 yards 6 TD

It's pretty obvious to me that the games against Mississippi State, Southern Miss, and UTSA are outliers. It could be argued that those were the three toughest defenses that Tech saw all year. Take out those three games and here are what the stats look like: 201/337 (60%) 2,539 yards 16 TD 2 INT

First 7 games: 125/226 (55%) 1,723 yards 9 TD 3 INT
Last 6 games: 104/183 (57%) 1,251 yards 7 TD 2 INT

I think pretty much all of us can agree that the completion percentage has to improve. It needs to be at least 60%. For comparison, Higgins completed 66% of his throws in 2016, Driskel 62% in 2015, and Sokol 58% in 2014. J'Mar completed 70% of his throws in 2016.

Were his issues in 2017 due to lack of confidence? Lack of receivers getting open? He showed that he can be accurate in 2016.

What are expectations from a statistical standpoint in 2018? I'll say 3,500 yards through the air with 26 TDs, 7 INTs. Another 450 yards and 8 TDs on the ground would be nice. Am I setting my expectations too high?

J'Mar now has 14 starts under his belt in his career. He is 7-7. The "he's young" excuses will no longer valid in 2018 in my opinion.

I'm interested in hearing you guys thoughts on these numbers now that they are all in front of you.
