I talked with Smith's coach, Donnie Jackson, this afternoon. He has narrowed his list of schools to two, Tech and Stephen F. Austin. He will visit Tech Friday (4/17 through 4/19) and SFA Sunday (4/19 through 4/21),

His coach spoke highly of JaQuan as a person and player. Early in the year some schools like TCU and Nebraska were around but says he blew up because of his physical tools. With a 7-foot-3 wingspan, Smith is a rim defender and set the school record for blocked shots with 155 in two years his coach said. Offensively, his strength is running the floor and his thunderous dunks according to Jackson.

Jackson said JaQuan grew overnight and has only played basketball a few years.

The style of play of Tech and SFA has Smith interested in both programs since they both run the floor and play uptempo.

He will make a decision after he makes his visits some time next week.
