Bryson Lucero will get the start at QB for UAB on Saturday.
Lucero is a RS FR and has started the last 4 games at QB for the Blazers.
PFF Season Grades: Overall 71.1, Passing 70.6, Running 56.2
Passing Details by Depths:
At LOS or Behind: 12/14 (86%) for 86 yards, 1 TD
0-10 Yards Down Field: 32/44 (73%) for 268 yards, 1 TD, 1 INT
11-20 Yards Down Field: 20/38 (53%) for 283 yards, 3 TDs, 1 INT
20+ Yards Down Field: 9/26 (35%) for 282 yards, 2 TDs, 4 INTs
Passing Details against Pressure:
No Pressure: 57/94 (61%) for 667 yards, 5 TDs, 4 INTs
Under Pressure: 16/40 (40%) for 252 yards, 2 TDs, 2 INTs
Not Blitzed: 46/84 (55%) for 596 yards, 5 TDs, 5 INTs
When Blitzed: 27/50 (54%) for 323 yards, 2 TDs, 1 INT
Lucero has been sacked 3 times, had 4 balls batted down, 5 drops, and 6 throw aways.
He's not the most accurate QB in the world, what's new about a UAB QB?
In his last two games, Lucero is 25/54 (46%) for 251 yards, 1 TD, 3 INTs. Not playing his best football.
Here is what concerns me: Watkins and Mitchell on the outside can get vertical, we saw it last year. Can the Tech DBs make plays down the field on the ball? That was the difference in the game last season. Tech gave up two big deep balls in a 20-13 loss.
First and foremost, UAB wants to run the football with Spencer Brown. He's down about 20 pounds this year, looks a lot quicker. DeWayne McBride is a TR FR that is making a name for himself behind Brown. He's averaging over 10 yards a carry on 26 carries. He shredded WKU for 131 yards on 10 carries.
The LT Telfort has yet to allow a QB pressure in 56 pass blk snaps this season. Ragland (LG) and Wells (RT) have struggled in pass pro, allowed 20 QB pressures amongst them. The RG Trehern has been downright brutal. He has a 39.7 pass blk grade, has allowed 11 QB pressures, and committed 7 penalties. I'd line Milton up over him all night long.
Defensively, their DBs commits a ton of penalties. Marshall and Harris have combined for 8 holding or PI's to this point. They are very physical on the outside, very physical.
