A coffee shop started in Ruston in the late 1990’s or early 2000’s called Frothy Monkey, by the mid-2000’s it was closed but someone had bought the branding and brought it to Nashville (I wish I knew the rest of this story, maybe someone here does). In 2004 the first location in the 12 South neighborhood they would then quickly grow across Nashville and expand into the Birmingham area and a location in Chattanooga. It’s one of my favorite spots in Nashville and even though the 12 South location is called “the original” I quickly tell anyone I take there it isn’t.
