Tech release:
Techsters Nationally Ranked for First Time in School History

RUSTON – The Louisiana Tech tennis team made history on Tuesday as the weekly Oracle/ITA Collegiate Tennis team rankings were released and the Lady Techsters came in at No. 70 in the country, the first national ranking in program history.

The ranking comes on the heels of what was LA Tech’s first ever victory over a nationally-ranked opponent, winning at No. 45 Georgia State this past Saturday.

“This is a historic day for Louisiana Tech Tennis,” head coach Chad Camper said. “All of the team’s hard work has led to us accomplishing one of our goals and that was to become nationally ranked. This is a step forward in continuing to build this program. We look forward to trying to meet our other goals for this season and for the future.”

The Techsters are currently 12-3 this spring, having won eight of their last nine matches. They are currently one of four Conference USA teams in the top 75 along with FIU, Rice and Old Dominion.

The schedule does not get any easier for the squad as they travel to take on SMU on Saturday, March 26. The Mustangs are currently unranked, but have been ranked as high as 49th this season.

After that, LA Tech will head to Fort Worth on Tuesday, March 29 to battle No. 30 TCU.
