DT Milton Williams is the #70 overall prospect, #4 DT. Has a 2nd-3rd round grade.

About Williams:

BACKGROUND: Milton Williams III attended Crowley High School and was a four-year letterman as a defensive lineman. After posting 61 tackles and 4.0 sacks as a junior, he led Crowley to an 8-3 record and playoff run as a senior, earning District MVP and First Team All-District honors. Williams finished the 2017 season with 59 tackles, 10.0 sacks, two forced fumbles and one defensive touchdown. He recorded over 300 tackles, 22.0 sacks and four total touchdowns in his prep career. Williams also lettered in basketball at Crowley.

A two-star defensive end recruit out of high school, Williams was the No. 127-ranked strongside defensive end in the 2017 class and the No. 380 recruit in Texas. He received interest from Texas A&M and Texas Tech, but those offers never arrived. In the end, Williams received four Division-I offers, committing to Louisiana Tech over New Mexico, Stephen F. Austin and Tulsa. He elected to skip his senior season and enter the 2021 NFL Draft.

STRENGTHS: Lithe, long frame with room to continue and fill out...explosive big man with fluid lower body movements...impressive lateral range to work up and down the line of scrimmage like a piano...physical hands to stun or snatch...makes himself skinny through gaps...improved feel for blocking schemes and can find the ball through bodies...persistent effort to chase down screens and plays away from the line...improved his conditioning in 2020 and there was a noticeable uptick in hustle from his 2019 tape...described as “quiet” but “very vocal” in defensive line meetings, commanding and policing the unit...blue-collar worker and stays motivated...durable and led the team in sacks the last two seasons and experienced at different alignments.

WEAKNESSES: Lacks ideal length...can be out-angled and driven from the lane when he doesn’t keep his shoulders square...his hands are more active than powerful and his placement can be improved...his taller pad level will get him in trouble with up-and-down contact balance...needs to protect his lower body...inconsistent finisher, allowing the ball carrier to step out of his grasp...aggressively crashes down and sells out for plays, leaving him susceptible to backfield fakes...struggles to find passing lanes with only one career bat down at the line of scrimmage.

SUMMARY: A two-year starter at Louisiana Tech, Williams was a defensive tackle/end in defensive coordinator David Blackwell’s 3-4 base, primarily lining up over the B-gap. He emerged as one of the best defensive linemen in Conference-USA the last two seasons (19.0 tackles for loss) and is an ascending player who has yet to play his best football. Williams is a slippery rusher with explosive lateral quickness and physical hands to make plays up-and-down the line of scrimmage. He has terrific body flexibility, but his pad level will get the best of him at times and he needs to improve his finishing skills. Overall, Williams is still filling out his frame and learning how to maintain his leverage, but he boasts a dynamic mix of explosiveness and effort. He projects as a scheme-versatile three-technique or base end.

RB Justin Henderson is ranked as the #38 RB.

RB Israel Tucker is ranked as the #47 RB.

WR Adrian Hardy is ranked as the #65 WR. He ran a 4.48 forty at Tech's pro day.

OG Donavaughn Campbell is ranked at the #29 OG. He was 6'4, 336 pounds at Tech's pro day, ran a 5.6 forty.
