Today we continue taking a look at the top 30 returning players for La Tech in 2020. #28 is a walk-on that is expected to take over a starting spot in 2020 that is not necessarily all that well known to most Bulldog fans.
28 -- H-Back Jacob Adams (RS JR) –
Adams graduated from West Monroe HS in 2017 and joined the Bulldog football team as a walk-on in the fall of 2017.
Adams is a football player, plain and simple. At West Monroe he piled up 320 tackles, 18 TFL, 7 sacks, fumble recoveries, 7 forced fumble, and 5 interceptions over his career.
After not playing in his true freshman or redshirt freshman seasons, Adams moved from LB to H-Back in 2019. He saw action in all 13 games, primarily on special teams, but he also saw action in 6 games offensively, garnering 48 snaps. He caught 1 pass for 8 yards.
In 2020, Adams is expected to take over Bobby Holly’s role at H-Back. Holly played 318 snaps in 2019, so Adams is going to contribute, particularly as a blocker. PFF gave Adams a 70.9 blocking grade in 2019.
